The Wilmette Cougars play in the Women's Central Hockey League, an adult recreational ice hockey league. The WCHL includes over 40 member teams from Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan and Indiana. The Wilmette Cougars Division 5 team players have 2 plus years of experience playing hockey.
The Cougars play league and exhibition games throughout the season and members often get together to play on tournament teams in the spring and summer.
The Cougars D5 ended the 2019-2020 regular season in style with a 6-0-3 record. This helped them rocket over the Tigers and Viking and taking over 2nd place in the division. “The Wilmette Cougars started in 2008 with 23 players. The goal was to have a team on which women could develop their skills, learn more about the game, make friends, and support each other. One of the things Cougars players most pride themselves on is a lack of drama among teammates. We might have drama in our personal lives, but that all stops when you get on the ice. Playing hockey is a way to get away from the stress of our daily lives and do something fun that’s just for us and an awesome workout. ”
